Autumn 1

Planet Earth

In this geography topic we will learn about our amazing world. We will learn about the continents and oceans. We will learn to use geographical terms such as equator, hemispheres, arctic circle and many more. We will learn about time zones and how to look after our planet.

Autumn 2

Stone age to the Iron age

Within this history topic we will learn how our ancestors lived over 10,000 years ago. We will learn how they survived and thrived in our local landscape; the challenges they faced and how over time they developed and began to use metal tools. We will also learn how our ancestors’ lives changed from a hunter gathering lifestyle to a more settled farming life and the subsequent growth of communities.

On 18th November, we will also visit Creswell Crags: whose caves once sheltered Neanderthals over 50,000 years ago, and is known for being the most northerly place in Europe where Ice Age cave art has been found.
