Uniform Policy Update – Academic Year 2025–2026

As part of our ongoing OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) journey, we have been exploring ways to support more active, engaged, and comfortable learning experiences for our children. One area we’ve focused on is the potential benefits of an active uniform.

After careful research and consideration, we are excited to announce that we will be trialling an active uniform option throughout the 2025–2026 academic year.

What This Means

  • Children will have the choice to wear either:
    • The traditional school uniform, or
    • The active uniform, which is essentially our school PE kit.
  • This trial will allow us to gather feedback from children, staff, and parents, and observe any impact on:
    • Children’s sense of identity
    • Behaviour
    • Engagement in active play and learning
  • A final decision on whether to adopt the active uniform permanently will be made in the summer term of 2026, giving families plenty of notice ahead of September 2026.

Important Notes

  • We have not contacted the uniform supplier at this stage, as the traditional uniform remains fully acceptable during the trial year.
  • When choosing to wear the active uniform, we ask that:
    • Clothing is plain and unbranded (we understand that trainers may have small, discrete logos).
    • This helps ensure equality, avoids pressure to wear sports brands, and maintains a consistent appearance across the school.

We’re looking forward to seeing how this trial supports our children’s development and wellbeing. Thank you for your continued support as we explore new ways to enhance learning through play and movement.
