Welcome to Class 1 and 2 space on the Richard Bonington Primary and Nursery School website.
I think you will all agree that it has been a very successful first half term in F2 with all the children making an excellent start to their full time schooling. This was reflected in the very positive parents evening that we held at the start of October. Thank you to all our parents and carers for your support at this early stage in the year.
Did you know that when we started school in September we had dinosaurs in our school? We found huge footprints all over our classroom and playground and it was our job to investigate where they had come from! As part of this first topic the children had fun exploring different dinosaurs, travelling back in time in our role play area, designing their own dinosaurs and even collecting items at forest school to make a dinosaur habitat. What a ‘Dino-tastic’ time we all had!
We have now moved onto our ‘All About Me / Me and My Family’ topic which we are combining with the celebrations of Harvest Festival and Diwali in the final weeks before half term. Our cultures and home lives are the most important things to us especially when we are young and so the staff love to find out what the children have to say about it all! This is great for developing the Communication and Language and also the Understanding the World areas of the EYFS curriculum.
Thank you to those of you who have been reading with your child at home. We hope you are enjoying this special learning opportunity that you can do outside school hours. Please don’t forget to get into the habit of writing in the reading diary when you have read together as later in the year we will be organising prizes and incentives for children who have read a specified number of times in a half term. More details will follow nearer the time.
Finally please don’t forget that we are here to talk at any point during the school day so please do not hesitate to grab a member of staff if you need to know anything or would like to chat about your child’s development and wellbeing.
Many thanks for your continued support,
(Miss Wigston, Miss Hawthorne, Mrs Lamb, Mrs Hall, Mrs Holmes, Miss (Mummy) Wigston and Mrs Sellers)
