This week we are discovering different ways of writing the ‘ur’ sound. There are many ways and lots to remember. Complete the word sort sheet today after revisiting Phase 5 phonemes in a quick write activity. Make a word bank/list of all the different words you know containing this weeks sound and see for yourself the many ways in which it can be spelt.
Revisit and practice reading Phase 5 words within sentences, by playing Sentence substitution.
Take a look at ‘er’ and ‘re’ at the end of words and then complete the grid/table.
Take up the challenge and create your own silly sentence!
Revisit phase 3 by playing Fastest finger.
Quick Read activity – try to fluently read words containing the different graphemes used this week. Then complete the wordsearch and tell a grown up where ‘ir’ likes to be most often ….beginning, middle or end? Phonics glasses on for a phoneme spotter.
Meet up with Obb and Bob and revise phase 5 phonemes.
Look at the rule about ‘or’ following ‘w’ and do a Quick Read.
Finally complete the worksheet.to consolidate what you have learned.
