Monday
This week we are exploring different ways to spell the ‘or’ sound. Play Fastest Finger with me to revisit phase 3. Read lots of new words containing a variety of spellings for ‘or’. Then get your phonics glasses on to spot these alternative spelling choices on a postcard. Either pause the video and make a tally or print out and highlight.
Tuesday
Today play Fastest Finger again but this time revisiting Phase 5. After that test yourself – how many of the alternatives taught yesterday can you remember? Pause the video, jot them down – don’t peek! Now check to see how many you can recall. Then I would like you to complete a word sort activity – be careful and copy and sort the words accurately. Concentrate on neat handwriting too.
Wednesday
Play Sentence Substitution today – read and change the sentences, which all contain Phase 5 phonemes.
After that see if you can remember ALL of the alternative spelling choices – there are eight mentioned this week! Finally complete the grid – pause the video before the words come up – you can tick off the ones you get correct. Remember, it’s all about increasing your knowledge and not competing with others!
As a challenge create silly sentences containing as many ‘or’ words as you can. I have given an example.Thursday
Play with Obb and Bob in the game Picnic on Pluto. This will help you remember Phase five words – some are real and some are nonsense!
Afterwards have a go at applying what you have learned this week , by spelling words containing a variety of the spelling choices we have looked at. Phonics glasses on for another phoneme spotter post card. Either pause the video and make a tally or print out and highlight.
