Today we are starting a new story in English called “Where the Forest meets the sea”. We will be doing this story for the next two weeks. Watch the video created by Mrs Phillips and join in with the questions.
Your activity is to create a word mat with all the key vocabulary you think you will need to help you for the next few weeks. You need to include at least 10 words but to challenge yourself, see if you can think of between 15 and 20. Look at the examples provided in the video and use these as a guide to help you. This assignment can be done on the computer as word document or on paper and a photo/scanned image sent to us. Please get someone to check your spellings, as this document will be really useful for the next few weeks.
Please submit your work via 'Assignments' on Teams.
As you may have remembered from yesterday, our story is focused around deforestation. Today we are going to learn all about deforestation, what is it? Why is it important? What impact does deforestation have on the world?
Watch the video and make your own mind up. Is deforestation destroying the planet? Be ready to share your thoughts in story time or if you can’t access story time, please email us your thoughts.
Today we are going to be continuing our thoughts about deforestation. By now, you will have formed an opinion deciding if deforestation is a good thing or a bad thing. Today we are going to be looking at lots of ideas, but thinking about to our story “where the forest meets the sea”. Have a read of the flash cards, and gather your ideas about for and against deforestation. If you want to make notes to remind you or print and sort the facts, this might help give you some ideas for your assignment tomorrow.
Today we want you to complete the grid “for or against deforestation.” Using all the facts you have learnt so far and the fact cards from yesterday can you complete the grid to give your arguments for and against deforestation.
This needs to be submitted back to us via Teams.
Today we would like you to complete a deforestation reading comprehension and then complete the Forms on Teams to show what you have learnt.
