Week 5 WB 1.2.21

For today’s lesson we are going to be learning about alliteration. Alliteration is where words start with the same letters or sounds e.g. angry ant both start with an A.

Watch the video and think of different phases using alliteration to go with each animal. We would like at least 3 alliteration phrases for each picture please.

This work DOES need to be submitted back to us.

English Monday

Monday English Work

The first thing you need to do is choose your animal which you would like to write your poem about. Then we want you to think of different words that start with the same letter.

So for example if you were going to choose a “snake” as your animal. What words can you think of that start with each letter? We want you to think of at least 5 words for each letter of your animal.

For the letter S you could have

Snake, slithering, small, slight, sleek.

You can use the word mats to help you.

Adjectives to prepare for your poem

For today’s lesson we would like you to practice writing an acrostic poem. An acrostic poem is where the first letter of each line forms a word. Watch the video and look at the example given, then choose an animal and practice writing your poem.

Acrostic poem

Wednesday English Work

Today we would like you to write your poem up in “best”. This can be typed on a computer or can be handwritten. You can add pictures if you would like.

This does need to be submitted back to us.

Today we would like you to perform your poem. Practise reading your poem aloud, then “perform” it to someone at home. If you would like to record it and send it to us via the class emails, we’d love to hear it.
