Week 5 Spring Term Home Learning (01.02.2021)

This week we are celebrating Chinese New Year!

Today's story is 'The Great Race' written and illustrated by Emily Hiles.


Three Daily Things;

1) Cosmic Yoga - Cracker the Dragon of Wonder


2) Retell the story using your toys and a pretend river.


3) During Chinese New Year celebrations, children are sometimes given envelopes with money inside! With an adult, look at some coins and see if you can see any

numbers on them. What numbers can you see? What shape are the coins? What

colours are they?

1) Watch Abbie celebrating New Year on CBeebies -


2) Fireworks are often seen during Chinese New Year! Paint or draw a firework picture. You could use crayons, pens, paint or glitter and glue!


3) I Spy and Count to 5 

Wednesday 3rd February 2021


Today's story is 'Peppa's Chinese New Year' created by Neville Astley and Mark Baker.


1) There were 3 red lanterns and 2 yellow lanterns hanging in a row. How many lanterns were there altogether? You could draw a picture to help you work out the answer.


2) Make your own lantern.



3) Find 5 red things in your house.

1) Watch the ‘Go Jetters’ episode - Dragon Dance Drama


2) Make a model dragon - you could use cardboard tubes and boxes, playdough, construction toys or natural materials like leaves and pebbles. Maybe you could draw a picture or take a photo of your dragon model!


3) Find the rhyming pairs.

1 – Learn this poem - Wandering and weaving down the street, the Chinese dragon has a lot of feet, Chinese dragon coming out to play, on this happy New Year’s Day!


2 – Make a smaller version of our lion using resources you have at home.

3 – Learn how to say Happy New Year in Chinese
