Week 10 Topic Activities

This week our topic is THE GREAT OUTDOORS!  We would have been having time in Forest school this term so I thought these activities would be a good substitute.

Below you will find lots of different activities for you to do in your garden or when you are out and about in your park or local community.

In Science there are some experiments to do with plants and I have linked plant growth to how our mindset can grow. I have added an interesting powerpoint and some links to the interesting topic of Growth Mindset and how we can develop children's thinking to be positive, encouraging them to become resilient learners. I am really excited about the Andy Goldsworthy art project and have also added lots of sun safe activities as hopefully the weather is good this week and the children will be spending time outdoors.

These 5 episodes explain to young children all about Growth Mindset and how to overcome problems, accept and grow from mistakes and be more resilient- I have added the link for the first episode which will, when finished, automatically follow on to the next episode. The children will recognize many of the characters from our class Dojo too!

Andy Goldsworthy is an amazing artist who has given me the idea for your art challenge this week. Watch the video below to see what you have to do. I am going to make some of these natural sculptures during the week so will add a few  of my own on here later on in the week. Don't forget to send me the photos!

Nature Sculpture Inspired by Andy Goldsworthy DIY Art Project

Try out a fun outdoor art project inspired by the British artist Andy Goldsworthy! Use whatever you have around your home to create a beautiful nature sculpture...

When you collect your materials for making your sculpture, remember to respect the environment around you- ask if you can take a petal or too from a flower and try whenever possible to collect things that have fallen onto the ground.
