Year 1
Welcome to Year 1
The Year 1 classes are:
Squirrels (Mrs Frankland/Mrs Kenyon) Frogs (Mr Beard)
The Year 1 teaching assistants are:
Mrs Holmes Miss Hodson
Year 1 is all about expanding our horizons and developing our independence. Alongside our packed and exciting curriculum, the children are given lots of time to complete 'busy jobs' where they choose their own line of enquiry and follow their own learning paths. They enjoy experimenting with the resources in the classroom and outside - finding new ways of using them to play, explore, talk about and engage with their learning. We use a combination of whole class teaching, small group activities and independent learning tasks to consolidate previous learning and complete new challenges. Make sure you ask your child about the activities they have been busy completing. They will be sure to impress you with their knowledge, their creativity and their energy.
Below, you can see the information from our curriculum evening for those of you who couldn't make it. You will also find the newsletters which give you all the details you need to know about life in Year 1.
