Look Say Cover Write Check sheet

English

For the next two weeks in English we are focusing on a story called Anansi and the Moss Covered Stone. Follow the link below to watch the first part of the story :)

Tuesday

Watch part 1 of Anansi and the Moss Covered Stone and take a look at the vocabulary sheet below. Can you read all the words on the sheet and do you know what they all are? Discuss them with your grown up.

Perhaps you can practice writing these words in your very best cursive handwriting.

Wednesday

Have a look at the worksheet below, it has a part of the Anansi story written out for you to have a go at reading. Look out for the underlined bits of text, read them carefully and try and answer the questions on the document below (Grown ups - you could read the questions and discuss them with the children). Remember that a synonoym is a word that means the same as another word Eg cold and freezing.

Thursday

Read the Anansi Poem below and add actions to certain words. Here's some suggestions...

Anansi - hand movement like 'Incy Wincy Spider'

Break the rules - like breaking an egg

Clever - flash your hand like a lightbulb

Now add some of your own

Perhaps you can try and learn a bit of the poem and record yourself, we'd love to see!

Friday

Today, we're focusing on conjunctions.. as a quick starter see how many conjunctions you can write down in 30 seconds! Remember a conjunction is a word that join two sentences together.

Next have a look at the worksheet below and add in the conjunction that makes the most sense. There are some conjunctions at the top of the sheet for you too use or you could use your own.
